A lot of YouTubers and bloggers do product review videos and posts, so I wanted to share how I approach product reviews.
I have a lot of different product review videos and blog posts on my YouTube channel and blog for many different products – skin care, makeup, nail polish, hair care, lots of things.
Most of the products, I purchase myself. A few of the other products have been sent to me by brands. And sometimes I receive an Influenster Vox Box. I always mention when I received a free product.
I pretty much don’t try a product unless I think I’m going to like it. And if a brand approaches me about sending me a complimentary product to try and review, but I don’t think it would be a good fit for my channel, or if I’m not interested in trying it, I say no. I’ve said no to a number of brands.
My reviews are generally positive because they’re more along the lines of “hey, I tried this product I love and want to tell you all about it!” If I don’t like a product, I don’t do a video on it. The reason for that is, just because I don’t like a product doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad product or that it wouldn’t work for you. In my product reviews, I do point out things, if they come up, that might not work for everyone. For example, if you have a different skin type than the product is meant for, or if you hate scented moisturizer and this one is scented, the product might not work for you.
So, I use a product, see how it works for me, and tell you what I think. I only recommend products that I truly do love.
And when I can, I demonstrate the product in the video to show you how I use it!
So, that’s how I do product reviews in a nutshell!
