Nice bath products are one of life’s greatest pleasures! So, I was delighted when I received a full-size bottle of Philosophy Lemon Custard Shower Gel at the QVC booth at Beautycon NYC. I was even more delighted when I found the recipe for
actual lemon custard printed on the front of the bottle! I just had to try the recipe (more on that below)!
This multitasking gel has a soft lemon custard scent. It provides a rich lather that cleans and conditions skin and hair. It contains shea butter, aloe, olive fruit extract and antioxidants.
I used the shower gel all three ways. It’s lovely as a bubble bath. I also liked it as a shampoo. I was apprehensive about using this as a shampoo because I’m really picky about my shampoo. I didn’t think something used as a shower gel could also make my hair look nice. Then I tried it and found that I was wrong! I love this as a shampoo! My hair was soft and hydrated and came out shiny and manageable!
My favorite use is as a shower gel. I love nice shower gels and this one definitely delivers. My skin felt clean and moisturized. My skin tends to be sensitive and this shower gel did not irritate my skin at all. And the lemon scent is so refreshing!
Now for the recipe- there’s an actual recipe for real lemon custard on the Philosophy Lemon Custard bottle! Philosophy does this on other products too. I just had to try this recipe to see if it was real and to also see if it was good! To see how I made the real lemon custard, click here.
The recipe calls for:
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup corn starch
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 egg yolks
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/3 lemon juice (I used fresh squeezed lemon juice)
- 1 teaspoons butter
I followed the instructions (see my YouTube video for details) and then served the custard layered with frozen berries and a dollop of whipped cream.
It was delicious! One of the best desserts I’ve ever had! I especially liked the lemon custard with the berries and whipped cream.
Not only do I recommend Philosophy Lemon Custard Shower Gel, but I recommend their real Lemon Custard recipe too! Now, I can’t wait to try their other shower gel, shampoo & bubble bath scents (and their other recipes)!
Let me know in the comments section whether you’ve tried any of Philosophy’s 3-In-1 shower gels and, if so, what scent is your favorite! Also let me know if you’ve ever tried a recipe on the bottle of a Philosophy product!
